A Commedia dell’Arte show with all the passion, romance and blood letting of Romeo and Juliet, only funnier…

Lelio and Isabella love each other but their families hate each other so Isabella fakes her own death – naturally. Brighella recruits Arlecchino to steal Pantalone’s enormous money sack, and The Captain runs a profitable nightclub called ‘The Tomb’, which doubles as well, a tomb. 

DEVELOPMENT

Two months of class-time workshops. 

A simple matter of combining classic Commedia lazzi and comic set ups, a plot lifted from Shakespeare and then completely disrespected, random and ridiculous characters discovered in the workshop process, an ending where everyone dies, and dressing the biggest guy up in a tutu. That was the challenge and the result was Love Knot, a one-night only castle in the sand moment of Commedia madness. Gone, but forever seared in the minds of all who attended.
