DAYBORO STATE SCHOOL ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM WEEK 5 & 6

30 May, 2015

Focus, ensemble and performance prep was the aim of week 5 for the Dayboro students! With the school term being over half way now, and drama being a fresh change from the normal school classes, t’s easy to let excitement get in the way of focus and commitment. The students were challenged to put their focus skills to use in exercises that not only got them thinking on their feet, but also made them aware of their surroundings as well as the people in it. Come performance time, these students need to work alongside each other like a well oiled machine and be able to trust each other for support. It was important to revisit this subject as the Homunculus team move forward onto directing the performance pieces…

And so Week 6 saw us dive head first into developing the structure of the performances. With each class delivering different performances, Clint and Lauren started the work of creating alongside the children what will be presented come performance week. The students showed great enthusiasm and potential in the first stage of directing. So much laughter and imaginative creations were found in the space. These students are dedicated and just simply have a pure love for drama. A promising first step in directing these talented performers- bring on next week!
