DRAMA QLD CONFERENCE CAFE FLORIANI

22 Apr, 2015

After viewing the engaging performance of Café Floriani at the Drama QLD Conference, I was reminded of the power of comedy and laughter, through forms like Commedia Dell’Arte. Characters such as the El Dottore and Pantelone along with the various zanni characters, like Arrlechino and Brighella who were filled with zest and naivety, entertained an audience of teachers, after a long day of teaching. It was refreshing to see these stock characters make light of issues that were relevant to its audience, inviting a sense of play, and allowing us to laugh at our selves and each other. Homunculus Theatre provided a professional show, that was welcoming and hilariously funny. I look forward to seeing them work with our students in class, developing their love for the arts and comedy as well as refining their understanding and skills of performance specfic to this style.  Marie Ferguson, Cultural Leader P-12, St Augustine’s College, QLD
