We are very excited to announce our new Education Liasion Officer for Homunculus Theatre Company, Deirdre Marshall.

Deirdre Marshall is a drama and music teacher with over 25 years experience in the primary and secondary sectors and in city and regional schools. In this time she developed support material for the original Victorian Certificate of Education music study design and she has been a Music and Theatre Studies examiner with both the Board of Studies and the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority.

Between 1994 and 1999 she worked as a touring artist, running multi-cultural music programs in Victorian schools and teacher professional development. In 2000 she moved to Gippsland where she returned to the secondary sector. During this time she also completed postgraduate studies in music at Monash University and at the University of New England.

In 2010 she established Groundwork Youth Theatre, offering creative performance opportunities to secondary and post-secondary age youth unable to access drama in school and the wider community. In 2012, Deirdre was awarded the inaugural Regional Drama Teacher of the Year Award by Drama Victoria.

Deirdre also runs after school drama programs, works professionally as a director, has written several plays for her ensembles, participates in local festivals and regularly organises visiting artists to run school holiday programs in local performing arts venues.
